Curse Their Sudden But Inevitable Betrayal!
November 12, 2009 2:17 pm Current EventsNOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Fox cancelled Dollhouse. Because they suck. Actually, they only get part of the blame. A big part. They put it on a crappy night and did a crappy job promoting it and added their crappy input to the way the show started out turning off early viewers.
The rest of the blame goes to TV viewers that have gotten hooked on reality crap or yet another detective sciencey spin off (I’m looking at you CSI: Fargo!). Too many can’t be bothered to think and discuss.
But dammit! It was just getting really freaking good. The last episode aired was one of the more amazing hours of television I’ve ever seen. Yeah, it meant something to me. But really, there was a lot there.
Maybe, just maybe, some landslide of viewers will notice the show when it comes back in December. I’ve got to have a little hope right?
The man himself says,
Hmm. Apparently my news is not news.
I don’t have a lot to say. I’m extremely proud of the people I’ve worked with: my star, my staff, my cast, my crew. I feel the show is getting better pretty much every week, and I think you’ll agree in the coming months. I’m grateful that we got to put it on, and then come back and put it on again.
I’m off to pursue internet ventures/binge drinking. Possibly that relaxation thing I’ve read so much about. By the time the last episode airs, you’ll know what my next project is. But for now there’s a lot of work still to be done, and disappointment to bear.
Thank you all for your support, your patience, your excellent adverts. See you again. -j.
Balls.

They canceled “Firefly” too. I think they’re kinda confused over there.

they’ve got a thing against Whedon’s shows, now…i’m not sure why he continues to work with them, to be quite honest.

Why does Whedon put up with Fox, anyhow? SyFy needs more quality programming.
I hope Summer Glau is not becoming the new Ted McGinley (the patron saint of shark jumping).
Firefly, Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles, and now Dollhouse.
That’s OK, Summer. You can crash/hideout at my pad any time!

The problem is that their star actress was not nearly variable enough to carry the role she played. The is not because she’s a bad actress, but because shifting between various completely different personalities in the space of a single episode is an extremely difficult job. I can think of only a couple of people who could have pulled it off, and the only one who really fit the demographic was working on TSCC.
Not to mention the unaired last 1st season episode showed how silly the end was going to be assuming that path was the planned arc.
