Gluttony, Thy Name is Gore

We all remember when the hypocrite blow-hard Gore released An Inconvenient Truth and then the Tennessee Center for Policy Reasearch showed exactly how efficient and downright miserly Gore’s own home ran, right? You know, when we learned that his home used about 20 times the electricity of the average American wasteful household. This revelation came with jewels like this one:

Gore’s mansion, located in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service (NES).

Well apparently seeing his reflection made a difference to the Goracle. Being less than thrilled that his pedestal of public perception was tarnished, he jumped right into putting in corkscrew lightbulbs, solar panels, and energy efficient windows. And I am ecstatic to report that it has made a difference. According to the Tennessee Center’s latest report, Goracle’s 20 room, eight bathroom mansion now consumes an average of 17,768 kWh per month. That is 1,638 kWh more energy per month than before the greenification – at a cost of $16,533. The president of the Tennessee Center for Policy Research said it best.

“Actions speak louder than words, and Gore’s actions prove that he views climate change not as a serious problem, but as a money-making opportunity,” Johnson said. “Gore is exploiting the public’s concern about the environment to line his pockets and enhance his profile.”

Sure his over-hyped PowerPoint presentation made him money, but by spreading his global warming alarmist rhetoric he is looking for much more. If he can influence government policy, he stands to profit even more. Not only from ticket sales and speaking engagements, but also from potentially lucrative investments. Investments that stand little chance of major growth if he can’t convince the government to force so-called green initiative through.

Maybe I’m a cynic, but the evidence tells me that the $300 million advertising campaign that he will be launching has far more to do with his own pocketbook than his concern about the environment. I’ve no problem with people making wise investments and profiting from them. I fully support that as long as the profit is driven by the free market. Spreading fear and propaganda to stimulate government action that results in personal profit is suspicious at best. It skirts right on the edge of some serious insider trading. He is looking to prop these companies up with government subsidies (read as: your tax dollars) for his personal benefit.  I’d like to convince you that hitting my tip jar makes the world a better place, but really it just makes me happy.  I certainly would not support someone taxing stealing money from you to drop in my tip jar.

Being environmentally responsible is a respectable thing. Spreading lies for personal profit is not. I may use canvas grocery bags and carpool to work in compact sedan, but I’m not buying the snake-oil from someone who doesn’t even believe it himself. Now maybe if he lived in a 4000 square foot home heated and cooled by a geothermal system that collected brown-water for landscaping uses, then he might have credibility. A house like the one just outside of Crawford, Texas where George W. Bush resides. Hmm, and yet the Goracle is the one credited with riding in on the proverbial white steed to rescue the environment.

And I haven’t even mentioned the fact that anthropogenic global warming is rejected by over 31,000 real scientists. (follow that link)

Give Prince Albert a break. Maybe all the power is being used to charge up his fleet of electric cars. Not.

I’d like to see that electric meter. I’ll bet that thing spins scary fast.

Of course Al thinks its getting hotter! Of course, that’s just the rate of increase in his biological insulation. It really doesn’t have anything to do with mythical things like “unicorns”, “faries”, or “global warming.”
