Check the Dates

In this neck of the woods, you can go ahead and file for renewal of the your conceal carry permit up to 90 days prior to expiration. Which means I really should have sent mine is 4/13 since it expires 7/13 and they say it takes 60-90 days to process.

Thankfully, there is a 30 day grace period allowing me to legally carry on my expired permit for 30 days after the expiration. So the application went in the mail today and you will see a counter over there in the side bar which I will stop when I receive my new permit. We shall see how long it takes.

  1. Careful lady, in this climate, you’re less likely to end up in jail with an expired driver’s license.

  2. Mailed my renewal paperwork in on April 9th and received it today.
30 days in this environment isn’t bad for renewal. New applications are taking longer though.

And given how many people are reportedly getting new licenses, I’m surprised mine went through so quickly. Every instructor I know is reporting record number of people getting new licenses; as in “we can’t keep up” numbers.

  3. A permit to exercise one’s God-given human rights? 🙁

Maybe someday, the rest of the world will become as civilized as Arizona…

  4. Yeah, I have to get my VA non-res in this week and my FL non-res in next week or so if I want to have any hope of being able to carry in Ohio in a few months.

  5. I filed for my renewal in late January for a June expiration. Even with the CCH instructor endorsement on the form, it took a good 2+ months. Good luck!

  6. Well it took me just under a month to get the paperwork through for my new rifle .. so I’m hoping you’ll get your permit in less time!
